Hey guys and Happy Juneteenth! If you aren’t familiar, Juneteenth is traditionally an African-American holiday to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. I know last week’s post was a bit heavy, but I do intend to spotlight small and POC-owned businesses on this blog! So, in honor of today, I wanted to share some of the top black-owned fashion brands on my radar!
KAI Collective
I stumbled across this brand completely by accident a few weeks ago and I’ve already placed my first order. Kai Collective is a London-based womenswear brand by fellow blogger, Fisayo Longe. I love how sexy and feminine the Beebeeta dress is and I actually ordered the Nadya shirt in White!
A.Au
If my aesthetic could be summed up in one word, it would be A.Au. The drapey, dreamy, Nigerian-based brand has become a fast favorite of mine since I discovered it last week. Think Sezane meets Doen and you’d have a pretty good picture of A.AU. Some personally favorites of mine are the Omala skirt in 100% cotton and the Mandarine.
Hope For Flowers
Hope for Flowers is a sustainable fashion brand by Tracy Reese based in Detroit. I adore the simple fabrics and designs from Hope For Flowers, especially this puff-sleeve jacket from their latest collection!
Castamira
Since purging my closet, I’ve been on a hunt for THE swimsuit to end all swimsuits for me. Living in Hawaii, this hunt has become even more pressing with each passing sun-soaked day! Enter Castamira, a swimsuit brand started by former Wilhelmina model Chantel Davis! I’ve had the gorgeous Oasis swimsuit in my cart for quite some time, and I think it’s about time I pulled the trigger!
AAKS
Just in time for summer, AAKS provides some of the most stunning raffia handbags I’ve ever seen. I love the vibrant colors and the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Each handbag is handcrafted in Ghana and shipping is worldwide! I have my eye on either the Hawa Rainbow or the Volta Noir!
