A Rothys Review
This Rothys Review is not sponsored in any way by Rothys. I purchased these shoes with my own money and all opinions are my own!
This has got to be one of my most anticipated reviews so far and for good reason! Rothy’s are literally everywhere right now! My doctor wears them, my co-workers wear them, even my neighbor has a pair! In preparation for our military move to Hawaii, my boyfriend and I did a lot of purging. I’d say about thirty percent of that purge had to do with my wardrobe. After all was said and done, I had about eight pairs of shoes left. Well now that we’re in our home, I was itching to start building my collection again and what better way to do that then by splurging on the new Rothys Mary Janes!
Why I Decided to Purchase
I’d seen press coverage on Rothy’s for a few years now, but nothing really grabbed my attention until the recent release of the Mary Janes. The original designs were okay, but I already owned flats in similar styles and couldn’t justify the price for something I already had duplicates of.
The Mary Janes caught my eye for two reasons: 1. the washability and breathability and 2. the bow!
I’m not a stranger to washable shoes, in fact, I own a few pairs of Allbirds that have a similar tagline. What I was looking for, was a washable shoe that also offer more in the way of fashion and design. Which brings me to my second point: the bow. I love items that have a little something extra to them and that bow added just the touch I was looking for to an other-wise basic monochromatic outfit.
How Is the Sizing/Fit?
I’m a true narrow 9.5 in most shoes and the sizing for the Mary Janes is spot-on in my opinion. I can’t speak on the other styles with this being my first pair, but with their return policy, I don’t think you’ll have any trouble finding your correct size! As far as the fit, I haven’t had any issues in the two weeks that I’ve been testing them out. I’ve worn them on errands, to dinners out, and at work (chasing elementary kiddos all day!) and haven’t had any irritation or rubbing.
Would I Recommend Them?
The only reservation I have about these flats are the pricing. I am fortunate to be in a place where the cost isn’t a deal-breaker but finances are such a personal thing and everyone’s budget is different. With that being said, I know that the company is actively working to provide alternatives to purchasing all at once with the recent roll-out of their partnership with afterpay which allows customers to pay in installments.
For the price, I do think that Rothys are a great investment item to have in my closet. I’ve said this before, but I do have a deep appreciation for companies that actively work to improve the sustainability of their products. The fact that these shoes can be tossed in the wash is a game changer for me as a therapist who routinely comes home with covered in paint, markers, or play-doh. I also enjoy the fact that after eight and a half hours on the floor or running around with kiddos, I barely notice that I’m wearing shoes because they’re just that comfortable and breathable.
